High Current Flash LED Driver With Timeout Protection

CM9412 is a high efficiency current mode boost con- verter of the California Micro Device PhotonIC family that CAN be used to drive up to 1A from a single-cell Li- Ion battery. LDO mode provides even higher efficiency at a higher VIN. The chip operates at 1Mhz switching frequency, allowing the use of small external compo- nents for boost Regulator Its low 0.3A shutdown cur- rent, over-current/temperature protection, under- and over-voltage lockout, and soft start features make it a good candidate to be used in portable devices. The CM9412 CAN drive one high current Flash LED in a preview/torch mode, flash1 mode (70% of the current in flash2 mode), or flash2 mode by EN pin using Single Wire Control (SWC) protocol.
