Ballast Control IC For Compact Fluorescent Lamps

The FAN7710V developed using Fairchild’s unique high- voltage process and system-in-package (SiP) concept, is a ballast control integrated circuit (IC) for a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). The FAN7710V controls internal High-Voltage stress and delivers 20W to the lamp at 310VDC voltage. FAN7710V incorporates a preheating / ignition function, controlled by an user-selected external capacitor, to increase lamp life. The FAN7710V detects Switch operation from after ignition mode through an internal active Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) control circuit. This control scheme enables the FAN7710V to detect an open-lamp condition, without the expense of external circuitry, and prevents stress on MOSFETs The high-side driver built into the FAN7710V has a common- mode noise cancellation circuit that provides robust operation against high-dv/dt noise intrusion.
