Speech Synthesizer LSI With On-chip 384K Mask ROMThe
ML2201 is a PCM-based speech synthesizer LSI with on-chip 384K Mask ROM, D/A
Converter and Low Pass Filter It is a shrink version of Oki's popular MSM9831
that is functionally identically but in a smaller package. A small part of the
ROM is utilized as phrase control table for compilation of several words. Using
Okis PC based Speech development tools, such as AR204, several words or sound
effects CAN be concatenated to one sequence that CAN be playbed back upon
receipt o one address from the external MCU.
ML2201 is suited for application demanding short output times and high sound
fidelity. The non-linear 8-bit OkiPCM method produces sound quality comparable
with 10-bit straight PCM. Whats more, its small footprint package makes it an
ideal choice for todays size sensitive applications.
