Msc1210 Debugging Strategies

The MSC1210 embeds an 8051 CPU, a high-performance, delta-sigma, 24-bit Analog- to-Digital Converter (ADC), and many peripherals to give a system on-chip solution for high-precision data acquisition systems ( Ref. 1 ). To debug application programs for the device, several strategies may be used. This article describes Integrated Development Environment (IDE) simulators, and compares IDE simulator techniques with In-System-Debugging (ISD) techniques. Further details on various styles of ISD are discussed, such as Terminal-based monitoring and IDE-based monitoring. Finally, debugging MSC programs using an In-Circuit Emulator is discussed.
