Part Number: SP7615 Application Description: Protection SP7615 from over voltage and reverse polarity spikes in automotive applications. Electrical Requirements: Nominal input voltage: 10 – 16V positive polarity Maximum protective voltage +60/-100V Circuit Description: This circuit has been designed to protect SP7615 White LED Driver from over voltage and reverse polarity spikes in automotive applications. With 12V, nominal voltage automotive power net may provide up to 60V spikes in both polarities at load bumps. Because the maximum allowable VIN for SP7615 may not exceed 16V (at VIN and any LED pins), the IC requires protection from these spikes. The protection circuit consists from N-type MOSFET Q1 in series with SP7615 VIN voltage. Diode D1 is used to protect from reverse polarity connection and negative spikes.
